Custom Exhaust KIA All New Picanto Step 1 ( Header & Resonator )

In this article, i will share about custom exhaust modification. This is my first time experience to modification exhaust system in my car. There are some exhaust custom modification for KIA All New Picanto, but you must buy at south korea. :(
When i ask how much money for deliver to indonesia, i am so supprised because the price was so high. So my friend on korea give me advise for made it on exhaust workshop :)

If we talk about exhaust, there are part on it. From Front there is Header
In this header there are Pipe header, Collector pipe & Front pipe. If you want to make header there is formula for make precision header. This formula is based from your engine spesification (Cylinder, CC, HP, Torque). On the last i will give it my formula for my car KIA All New Picanto. Than in the 2nd part, there are center pipe that connect to resonator. There is no formula in this section. But for center pipe the diameter is same with front pipe. Than in resonator, if you make more longer and more oval the sound will be more silent. See the pipe inside the resonator, use perforated pipe (picture on spoiler). 

In the Last part there are muffler and tail pipe. The muffler is the important part if you want to change the sound of your exhaust. You can setting to bass or dry sound, its based from the design of muffler and the contents of the muffler (glasswoll or not).

After we know little about the exhaust system, lets begin for modification your exhaust, Now i will try to share the result of my custom exhaust. First we need to know spesification our car engine for make precision header. This is my car spesification :

Kappa II 1,25L DOHC
CC : 1248cc 4 silinder
bore x stroke = 71mm x 78,8mm (2,8in x 3,1in)
power 87ps @6000rpm
torque max 12,3kg-m @4000rpm

The result is : 
Out pipe diameter = 1,52"
Length of header = 15-16"
Collector pipe = 3"
Front pipe = 1, 875"

The Important thing went you try to made some custom is the size of this header pipe. In this section you must accurate and precision. Because if you wrong, it can make your exhaust system cannot work optimal!!
So you need something for measure the Out&inner diameter of pipe, you need vernier caliper.


After you have found the result. Try to looking the best workshop on your town, and if you have choose your workshop. Please check it the diameter of pipe, because there are many people dont know about the real diameter of the pipe. So you need that caliper. :)
